My Favorite Day Trips

Ah, fall in southeast Minnesota!

The past week has been filled with beautiful colors throughout the southeast Minnesota region. I had a feeling this was going to be a colorful weekend, after a rainy and cloudy week. As I waited patiently for the sunshine, I started to make a list of my favorite day trips in the region. For me, I love a great trail to hike, a fun community to explore, unique shopping and great food!

My favorite hiking spots are White Water State Park, Schaar’s Bluff Trail, Lanesboro, and Forestville State Park. There are many options for length of the hike, topography, and elevation. Hiking in nature is a great way to refocus. I am always delighted by our beautiful environment. This weekend was a stunning combination of fall colors and crisp, sunny weather. Perfect!

The communities that I have found to be particularly fun to explore over the past few months are Lanesboro, Red Wing, Pepin, Decorah, and Northfield. I rarely plan my day trips in advance, therefore my visits are always a surprise. Occasionally, there is a festival or event, however, visiting the community is the best part for me. I enjoy walking in the communities, stopping by the shops, and trying the restaurants. The charming personality of each community draws me to visit many times over the summer and fall. I am always looking for another delightful community to visit and take recommendations!

Enjoy your fall days and take advantage of the weather when it is nice! Let me know what you would enjoy in our region.
